Parenting- Boston Moms

In an ideal world, parenting would be effortless, with a guide for every situation. However, we all know that’s not the reality. Each child is unique, requiring special love, care, and nurturing. So, without a parenting manual, what can you do? That’s where Boston Moms comes in. Our team consists of more than 40 contributors from different backgrounds and family structures, bringing a diverse range of experiences from various walks of life and parenthood.

Parenthood is an amazing journey, filled with challenges and beautiful moments. The anticipation and mixed emotions during pregnancy mark the beginning of this transformative experience. The newborn phase brings sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, but oh, the incomparable joy of witnessing your baby’s first smile! As your little one blossoms into a curious toddler, the journey transforms into a whirlwind of managing tantrums, fostering independence, and cherishing their first words and wobbly steps. The school years unveil a whole new spectrum of challenges, as you navigate the delicate balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and the intricate world of social development. And as the teenage phase unfolds, their identity takes shape, boundaries are established, and the need for open communication becomes paramount. Every stage of motherhood, though it can be tough, strengthens the unbreakable bond between a mom and her child.

Our goal at Boston Moms is to be there for you during every stage of parenthood, offering resources and support. Whether you need guidance or just someone to be there, we want to walk alongside you in your parenthood journey.

Dear Pregnant Caitlin, Congratulations. This is it. The moment you've been dreaming of for years is finally here. After months of negative tests, happy pregnancy announcements from current and former friends, and one consolation tattoo, it's your turn. You saw those...
Summer is full of unfulfilled promises we made to ourselves during the spring about what we would do once the weather turned warmer. If you’re anything like us, you didn’t hold yourself to your promises this summer. Still, we had fun not doing much at all and not meeting our goals. Here’s where we fell short.
Motherhood comes with a host of choices about what is best for you, your family, and your children. We at Boston Moms Blog are a diverse group of moms who want to embrace these choices instead of feel guilty...
Dear Daughter, Happy Mother's Day! I guess, really, you should be wishing that to me, and there will be time for that. But, let me take this moment to thank YOU. If it wasn't for you, I would not be...
I learned that my daughter’s epic airplane meltdown did not make her a bad kid, or me a bad mom. It made us both human. And resilient humans, at that.
Mom life is a marathon, not a sprint. You see, every mom I’ve ever known, near and far, experiences mom guilt to some degree, at some point in their journey of motherhood. And typically, it doesn’t serve us, especially when it leads us to say no to the things that fill us up. So here are a few ways I’ve found to kick mom guilt to the curb and live my #momlife marathon to the fullest.
I graduated from high school in 1999. I'm turning 40 this summer. And even though I've been removed from the halls of Lincoln High School for 22 years, I don't forget what high school felt like — and how...
It doesn't matter where — school, daycare, soccer practice, swim lessons, a birthday party, Nana's house, vacation. It could be the most exciting trip to an amusement park that we've been planning and talking about for months. We are always late!
I blame the pandemic. I used to be that person who loves to travel — especially by plane — so much that even turbulence created a feeling of thrilling excitement. I think I still love to travel, and I am...
In each of my three children's most recent parent-teacher conferences, there was one common theme. All three kids were doing very well in school, producing good work. But each teacher — of my three very different children — told...
It has been 4 solid years since we have had a newborn. Most families I know had children relatively close, within 1-3 years of each other, so I was not surprised when we realized that we had become the outlier. Trying...
We have our own brand of mashed-together parenting strategies and styles going on in our house, as I'm sure most moms do. Honestly, between being a geriatric millennial mom (a term I resent infinitely), a mom to a kid...
