Today we are discussing Financial Wellness with Julie Beckham. Julie is Rockland Trust’s AVP Financial Education Development and Strategy Officer. If she has visited your kids school, they might already know her as Ms. Money! Julie is taking a topic that can feel uncomfortable and vulnerable to discuss, and helping us to learn how to best secure our financial futures. She wants moms specifically to understand the importance of being involved with the household finances. Julie’s passion for this work shines through and you are going to love hearing from her.

About Our Guest 

JULIE BECKHAM is the creator of Ms. Money and the Coins®, a musical about saving, sharing and spending money, and the No Shame in this Money Game podcast. Not everyone thinks personal finance is a topic to sing and dance about, but Julie has made a career out of it! She is also AVP/Financial Education Development and Strategy Officer at Rockland Trust Bank. A Certified Financial Educator (AAFCS), an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC) and a graduate of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Julie creates and implements engaging and entertaining financial education programming for colleagues, customers and the community. Before coming to Rockland Trust, Julie was the Community Relations Manager at Blue Hills Bank where she managed the bank’s charitable foundations, sponsorships, matching gifts and volunteer programming. While in that role she developed a deep appreciation for the impact local nonprofits make on individuals and families in the Greater Boston area and has become involved with several organizations since. Julie is a five-time rider of the Pan-Mass Challenge, a member of the Advisory Council of Boston Money Management at Ethos, a Selection Committee Member of Citizens’ Housing and Planning Association (CHAPA), the Vice-Chair of the Town of Canton’s Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and a member of YW Boston’s LeadBoston Class of 2023. Julie is also the mother of a two teens and the bonus mother of two more!

The Boston studio, located in the historic South End of Boston, is also the headquarters of the Boston Ballet Company. Shannon started following Boston Moms on social media before she even lived in the Boston area! She credits her passion for the brand to the way it served her personally before she ever contributed to it. Though Shannon moved to Boston to support her husband’s career, Boston Moms was the unexpected gift and opportunity she had no idea was waiting for her. Shannon is mom to Elizabeth (2016) and Anderson (2018). She has been married to her husband, Benjamin, since 2012. Benjamin is a filmmaker and owner of Boston production company Magnus Films. In her free time, Shannon enjoys going to the beach, browsing antique stores, hiking with her family, traveling, reading, and watching movies with her husband.
