Parenting- Boston Moms

In an ideal world, parenting would be effortless, with a guide for every situation. However, we all know that’s not the reality. Each child is unique, requiring special love, care, and nurturing. So, without a parenting manual, what can you do? That’s where Boston Moms comes in. Our team consists of more than 40 contributors from different backgrounds and family structures, bringing a diverse range of experiences from various walks of life and parenthood.

Parenthood is an amazing journey, filled with challenges and beautiful moments. The anticipation and mixed emotions during pregnancy mark the beginning of this transformative experience. The newborn phase brings sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, but oh, the incomparable joy of witnessing your baby’s first smile! As your little one blossoms into a curious toddler, the journey transforms into a whirlwind of managing tantrums, fostering independence, and cherishing their first words and wobbly steps. The school years unveil a whole new spectrum of challenges, as you navigate the delicate balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and the intricate world of social development. And as the teenage phase unfolds, their identity takes shape, boundaries are established, and the need for open communication becomes paramount. Every stage of motherhood, though it can be tough, strengthens the unbreakable bond between a mom and her child.

Our goal at Boston Moms is to be there for you during every stage of parenthood, offering resources and support. Whether you need guidance or just someone to be there, we want to walk alongside you in your parenthood journey.

One of my twins is a breath-holder. Breath-holding is what it sounds like — a child involuntarily holds his breath in response to a physical or emotional trigger. They sometimes start to turn a little blue-ish — or pass...
I get it now, Mom. I haven't been a mother for all that long. And I'm sure I'll have more "Eureka!" moments along the way. But there's so much I understand now — about you, about my upbringing, about our family...
Sensory bins are a favorite activity at our house. A sensory bin is a container filled with things to touch and explore. Young children learn through touch, and sensory bins are a wonderful way to let them explore different objects...
Depression. Anxiety. Postpartum depression. At one time or another, each of these diagnoses had a home in my medical records. I've been in some pretty dark places throughout my life — so dark that bailing out seemed like a viable...
"Mom, can I have ukulele lessons?" I nearly spit out my coffee when my daughter, barely 5 years old, snuck up behind me and made this request. "Honey, between swimming, dance, and choir, you already have so much going on. You...

Do you find your mother-in-law hard to abide? Does she rub you the wrong way sometimes? Step on your toes? Or, maybe, you get along great! She respects boundaries, is the right amount of involved in your life, and really...
So you've decided to sleep train. Well done! You made a decision! Hooray for you.  I'm guessing you've spent about all of your mental energy on this — you've read all about cortisol and how French babies just magically learn...
Food. Bring all the food when a new baby is born. After my babies were born, I found it was hard to pull together breakfast, lunch, and healthy (ish) snacks. Dinner was a tiny bit easier, because my husband was usually home...
I never thought I'd be much of a gardener. I don't particularly like getting dirty, and I have an actual phobia of worms. Growing up, I'd ask my mom to let me use a plot of earth as my...
One morning as I was getting my kids ready for the day, my 4-year-old was running amok and jumping on his bed. I said something to the effect of, "Don't jump on the bed," but let's be honest, I...
Are you readying your little one (and yourself) for potty training? Do you find yourself overly nervous, procrastinating, or unsure if there will be a failure to launch? I’m here to tell my fellow mamas that while there could...
