There’s no better way to warm up this winter than with a bowl of homemade soup! To get you through those chilly days, try some of my favorites in the Cambridge area, including Arlington, Medford, and Somerville!
Kickstand Cafe :: Arlington
Two of their most popular soups are the lentil soup and the slightly spicy Thai chicken soup. Their lunch menu is fantastic as well!
Souper Roll-Up Cafe :: Cambridge
This spot offers more than 20 different soups — and they give you a 10% discount when you order ahead. Vegetarian options abound in addition to classics like chicken pot pie soup, crab meat corn chowder, and chicken barley.
Pemberton Farms :: Cambridge
Their extensive deli menu has everything you need, but their takeout soups are outstanding. Try the clam chowder or chicken orzo soup.
Santouka :: Harvard Square, Cambridge

Roasted Granola :: Arlington
Their soups are all vegan and homemade and delicious — I’ve loved the carrot ginger and blended roasted veg. I like to call ahead to see what’s available the day I’m going.
Mamaleh’s :: Kendall Square, Cambridge
Simply the best matzo ball soup around!
Tatte :: Arlington, Belmont, Cambridge, Somerville
Tatte’s soup of the day changes, but it’s guaranteed to both nourish you and warm you up. Tomato soup, chicken and kale, and potato and leek have been some of my menu favorites recently.
Gail Ann’s :: Arlington
In addition to their amazing donuts, Gail Ann’s homemade Greek avgolemono soup is what I crave anytime I am under the weather. This spot is old school — in all the best ways — and cash only.
Snappy Patty’s :: West Medford
The tomato soup here is top notch, especially when sinking your grilled cheese into it.
ZO Greek :: Assembly Row, Somerville
These soups are always full of comfort — try the Hungarian mushroom soup, lamb stew, or lentil soup.
Soup Shack :: Porter Square, Cambridge
Another great spot for ramen, Soup Shack also has delicious pho (Vietnamese noodle soup).
Hi Rise Bread Company :: Huron Village, Cambridge
Try their potato, carrot, and leek soup — with their homemade bread, of course!
BoonNoon :: Arlington
The khao soi at BoonNoon is perfection — it’s a Thai curry egg noodle soup topped with crispy wonton and housemade toasted chili.
El Potro :: Somerville
Sometimes you just need a hearty bowl of tortilla soup! This one hits the spot with its housemade chicken broth, shredded cheese, tortilla strips, tomatoes, sour cream, and chunks of avocado.
