Friendship Park is located at Roberts Field at 272 Old Westford Road, Chelmsford. The inclusive designed playground was rebuilt and opened in June 2018. Designed with much community input, the new nature themed playground provides side by side play opportunities for children of all abilities, with separate play areas for 2-5 and 5-12 year olds. The playground features a tall structure with multiple types of slides, climbing net, two zip lines, swings, sandbox, shaded seating and a natural play area.
A playground was first located at Roberts Field in 1973, when the Parents’ Association for Recreation for Children (PARC) gifted it to the Town. The metal playground cost a little over $20,000, was paid for by donations from Chelmsford businesses and featured a tall witch themed structure with slides, dome climbing structure and swings.
