couple holding wine glasses at restaurant (date night restaurants north of Boston)Child-free date nights are hard to come by, and in the chaos of parenting they can easily fall off the priority list. If you’re anything like me, you’ve gotten stuck in a routine of takeout and TV! Every once in a while, though, we need to get off the couch, get a little dressed up, and book a reservation at a “grown-up” restaurant — sans kids! If you’re lucky enough to find a babysitter, here are a variety of delicious, romantic date night restaurants north of Boston for you to try!

Bancroft :: Burlington

This dimly lit American steakhouse and craft cocktail lounge has a modern vibe with red accents, dark woods, and leather. The cooked-to-perfection steaks are accompanied by a selection of delicious sauces for you to choose from. The cocktail menu is innovative, combining classics and house originals.

Bueno Malo :: Andover

With its hip, West Coast vibe, Bueno Malo may seem casual in the daylight, but it becomes a perfect date night spot when they dim the lights and crank the music. Enjoy a margarita as you dip your tortilla chips into their secret-recipe salsa, or enjoy one of their artfully created craft cocktails.

Mooo :: Burlington

An upscale steakhouse, Mooo has a sophisticated atmosphere with custom wood panels and warm décor. This steakhouse has all the classics plus seafood and specialties. There’s an expansive bar and lounge with an award-winning wine list. Its most unique features are the onsite garden and bee homes.

Row 34 :: Burlington

Seafood lovers will be delighted with Row 34’s delicious oysters and some of the freshest seafood in New England. The sleek, upscale atmosphere is lively and welcoming with its high ceilings and open kitchen. There’s also an awesome beer list and fun, tasty cocktails.

Tonno :: Wakefield

Tonno, a unique coastal Italian restaurant, showcases Italian seafood classics and homemade pasta in a modern, nautical atmosphere. They rely on only the freshest ingredients sourced in the Boston area. The menu also boasts an impressive wine and cocktail list.

Venetian Moon :: Reading

Located in downtown Reading, Venetian Moon features traditional Italian cuisine in a warm, comfortable atmosphere. They offer made-to-order Italian dishes, seafood, steaks, and chops. They are well known for their extensive list of martinis that are delicious and strong (there’s a three-drink limit!). I recommend making your reservation for downstairs — a more private, romantic setting.

Teresa’s Prime Steakhouse :: North Reading

The cozy fireplace and leather banquettes make Teresa’s a perfect date night spot. The American and Italian-inspired dishes include homemade pasta, seafood, and prime hand-cut steaks. There are also plenty of beverage offerings.

Davio’s :: Lynnfield

An upscale Italian steakhouse, Davio’s has a warm, inviting atmosphere and attentive staff. There’s a fireplace, a lively bar, white linen tablecloths, beautiful flower arrangements, and an open kitchen. You can enjoy a warm basket of popovers as you browse the extensive wine list and menu full of delicious steaks, homemade pasta, and authentic pizzas.

La Fina :: Andover

La Fina is a perfect choice if you’re looking for a date night in a luxurious setting. This modern boutique steakhouse features contemporary fine dining with a twist. With European and South Beach influences, the menu includes an assortment of signature steaks served with “accessories” (their version of sides) for you to choose from, such as lobster macaroni and cheese or croquettes. There’s also an impressive wine list, an array of classic cocktails, and unique desserts prepared daily.

Karma :: Andover

This Asian fusion restaurant has warm lighting, cozy booths, and a lively atmosphere. The chefs add their own personal style to the award-winning cuisine, which is a cross between Japanese flavors and the delicate sauces and styles of France. Along with its unique dishes, Karma is known for its exquisite sushi selection and ever-changing craft cocktails.
