In 2018, two things happened that would forever change my life: My son was born, and Target started offering drive up.

I am a Target fan and am one of the many who falls prey to the end caps and displays, despite having a shopping list. However, I am happy to say that with the help of Target’s app and drive-up service, I’ve managed to avoid these shopping traps.

My family teases me about my love for Target’s drive up, but when my son was an infant in a carrier seat, it was not an easy thing to maneuver his stroller and a shopping basket or to try to fit as many items as I could into the stroller itself. Another challenge of shopping with a child is carrying the bags out. If I have a stroller and lots of bags to carry, it’s going to be a disaster.

Target drive up to the rescue!

When the pandemic hit, suddenly no one wanted to go into the store. With crowds, masks, social distancing, and those six-foot dots that made the lines seem even longer than usual, Target’s drive up got a boost in popularity, and the six designated parking spots at my local Target are now two rows of spots for drive-up customers!

I really can’t say enough good things about avoiding a trip into the store with a toddler, who likes to talk to everyone and walk through the store on his own OR who wants to sit in that giant bus of a cart with the kid seats (which makes you feel like you’re driving a Zamboni down a one-way road).

Target’s app even offers certain deals and coupons for particular items just for choosing drive up. Between groceries, last-minute holiday gifts, and household needs, I can’t think of the amount of time and money this free pickup service has saved me because I don’t have to trek through the store with my son in tow. They’ve even sweetened the deal by announcing Starbucks delivery to be included with drive up!

Does it make me boujee for preferring my bags to be delivered to my car? Maybe. But I don’t care. I applaud the drive up workers and the time they’ve brought back to my life. Target drive up was designed to make (mom) life easier, and I’ll take it!
