Summer’s in full swing, and warm weather is in the air (for a few months, at least). Which means rosé season is finally here. Cue the trumpets.

I used to be a red-in-winter and white-in-summer kind of gal. But I got into rosé a few years ago when a friend brought over a pink-hued bottle for my birthday. And I’ve been hooked ever since.

It’s light, crisp, and refreshing, with a hint of fruitiness. I like it super chilled and paired with warm-weather food, like salads, cheese, grilled meats, and fish. Delish.

I could go on and on about how good it is. I am by no means a wine connoisseur, but I’ve had enough rosé in my lifetime to give some recommendations. So without further ado, here are my top five favorite bottles.

Miraval :: Best Special Occasion

This is Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s wine — but don’t let that stop you if you’re not a fan. It’s that good. And it’s shaped like a champagne bottle, so it makes a nice gift.

Whispering Angel :: Best Every Day

This is everything you could ever want in a rosé — bright, crisp, clean. Pour a glass and head outside to your deck to enjoy.

Chateau de Campuget Costieres de Nimes :: Best for a Budget

Yeah, the name is long. But it’s found in pretty much every liquor or wine store I’ve been to. At under $13, you can afford to grab a few.

Mumm Napa Brut Rosé :: Best Bubbles

I love this bubbly for a girl’s night in. It’s a cute peachy-pink color that tastes great on its own, or even better when paired with apps or dessert.

Summer Water :: Best All Around

This stuff is true to its name. It’s so refreshing, it’s like taking a sip of water (if you like your water with a hint of alcohol, that is).

Just writing that list makes me want a glass — I’m off to pour one.

So, what about you? Do you like rosé, too? Or are you more of the red or white type?

  1. Love this article! Rose is so good for summer, especially for red-lovers like me. I’ll add one to the list: Magali by Saint Andre de Figuiere. It’s a terrific value for a Cotes du Rhone rose, just recently sold here in the U.S. I worked on their business and got hooked on their wine while living in Switzerland, and was delighted to discover that they’re now selling it at Empire (a fabulous restaurant at the Seaport). Great article!!
