Love is in the air, and moms in Boston LOVE to get out and have fun! Need some ideas to get out and explore? Boston Moms has compiled a few of our favorite things to do with kids in Boston this February!

February 1-7

Yin Tu Tang: Chinese House Tours

February 1 – June 1 :: Peabody

During the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), a prosperous merchant surnamed Huang built a stately sixteen-bedroom house in China’s southeastern Huizhou region, calling his home Yin Yu Tang. At this amazing Peabody Essex Museum exhibit, you can enter the Huang family ancestral home to gain a rare perspective on Chinese art, architecture, and culture.

Tunnel of Love Lights at Christopher Columbus Park

February 1 – 21 :: Boston

Bundle up and warm your spirit as you walk through the Tunnel of Love! Dance to the music as you stroll through the tunnel, snap some beautiful pictures, and don’t forget to check out the gigantic ‘candy’ conversation hearts! 

Lunar New Year at the Museum of Fine Arts

February 2 :: Boston

Ring in the Year of the Rabbit at MFA Boston! Celebrate the Lunar New Year by exploring Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese art from the MFA’s collections, pick up a Chinese Brush Painting kit, see demonstrations of Kung Fu and Lion Dancing, and much more!

Lincoln Winter Carnival

February 3 – 5 :: Lincoln

Chase away those winter blues at our annual winter carnival of events! Kids of all ages will enjoy a pancake breakfast, make Valentines for area teachers, play carnival games, learn about big trucks and emergency vehicles, and much more!

Wayne Potash and the Music Fun Band

February 5 :: Brookline

Come dance along to high energy songs like “Lobster Dance,” “Shy Shark,” and “B-I-G, I’m Big.” at this fun and interactive show for families with young children.

Boston Beanpot Tournament

February 6 & 13 :: Boston

Calling all hockey lovers! 70th annual Beanpot tournament, featuring hockey games between Boston College, Boston University, Harvard and Northeastern, will take place on the first two Mondays in February!

PAW Patrol Live! “Heroes Unite.”

February 11 & 12 :: Boston

This brand-new production is an interactive live stage show where members of the audience get to be the heroes! Paw Patrol fans to help the pups solve puzzles as honorary members of the pack, while they navigate the globe to make it back to Adventure Bay in the nick of time.

Boston Camp Fair

February 11 :: Boston

Looking for a camp, school or program for your kids this summer? Come to the Boston Camp Fair for “one stop shopping” and check out over 60 summer day camps, overnight camps, specialty camps and more are exhibiting their programs at this free, informative summer camp expo event.

Happy Hearts Valentine Party

February 11 :: Salem

Join the Good Witch of Salem for a magical family-friendly party at the Historic Hawthorne Hotel in Downtown Salem. Activity stations include cookie decorating, “love potion” creations, and making greeting cards, and the event will culminate in music and dancing for all!

Merrimack River Eagle Festival

February 14 – 18 :: Newburyport

When winter returns to the lower Merrimack Valley, so do Bald Eagles and Snowy Owls and other exciting winter wildlife! Come celebrate their return! 

Make a Mess: Valentine Paint Plops

February 14 :: Acton

Come to the Discovery Museum to create a Valentine’s Day heart shaped craft for someone special in your life! Plop and press paint to create a unique piece of art!

Make Way for Ducklings: The Musical

February 17 – March 12 :: Boston

A classic story for all ages, this New England premiere musical celebrates family, Boston, children and the beings who make an unfamiliar place a home.

Monster Jam

February 17 – 19 :: Worcester

The most action-packed motorsports experience for families in the world today returns to Worcester for an adrenaline-charged weekend at DCU Center! Fans will be on the edge of their seats as world-class drivers show off crazy skills and all-out racing in fierce head-to-head battles!

Maple Sugaring

February 18 :: Mattapan

Tap, collect, and boil down sap from the maple trees found at the Boston Nature Center. Explore the trails during a self-guided story book walk and scavenger hunt, and learn about the different techniques and equipment used across New England and why Sugar Maples are so unique. 

Kids at the Cabot

February 18 :: Beverly

Join Debbie and Friends for a fun, family show at the Cabot! Drawing heavily from fairytales that kids will already be familiar with, Debbie presents enough lyrical updates to keep these stories fresh, and to keep everybody tuned in and laughing, including the parents!  

Celebrate Little Joe’s 30th Birthday!

February 19 :: Boston

It’s Little Joe’s 30th birthday and you’re invited to the party! The gorilla habitat inside the Tropical Forest will be festively decorated with enrichment items, and the gorillas will enjoy a special birthday cake handmade by their care team. 

Presidents Day Winterfest

February 20 :: Quincy

Come enjoy this fun, free family event! Tickets are free, but reservations may be necessary for some events. Shows will include the Blue Hills Trailside Museum Birds of Prey Show, Rainforest Reptile Show, Mad Science Fire and Ice Show, Ice Sculptures Demonstration by Ice Man Craig, Sasha the Fire Gypsy Fire Show.

Performances include Brendan Ryan from NBC’s The Voice, No Static, Steely Dan Tribute Band, Puppernickel Puppets Sir George and the Dragon Puppet Show and 2 Patriotic/Winter Laser Shows by Pinnacle Laser Productions.

February Vacation Week Fun at Stone Zoo

February 20 – March 3 :: Stoneham

Go WILD during February school vacation break and visit Stone Zoo! Participate in winter-themed activities, crafts, a scavenger hunt and much more to discover. All events are included with general admission and take place outside.

February on the Farm (February Vacation Week Fun!)

February 21 – 24 :: Southborough

This drop off program for Kindergarten through 5th graders includes activities like sledding, making snow friends, visiting lambs, tasting maple syrup, hiking, and making farm and nature-related crafts!

Children’s Winter Festival on Boston Common

February 22 :: Boston

This year’s festival will feature music, giveaways, various winter attractions, treats, crafts, and much more! This event is FREE and open to all. Make sure to dress warmly!

Disney on Ice Presents: Frozen & Encanto

February 22 – 26 :: Boston

Audiences will see Anna, Elsa, Mirabel, and the Madrigal family live, as well as fan favorites Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald, Goofy, and many more!

Flippo the Juggling Magician

February 25 :: Westborough

Come enjoy a fun, free, family afternoon presented by Flippo the Juggling Magician at Smileland of Westborough!

Deanna is a mom of five (yes, five) children, who lives in Brockton with her small circus of kids, her husband, their dog Penny, and a few cats. Deanna also holds degrees in Elementary Physical Education and Dance Education, which she plans to put back into use one day. At parties, Deanna can often be found hanging out with family pets. She follows her children around with a camera like the paparazzi, is pretty sure that 97% of her blood stream is made of coffee, and her laundry is never done.
