Welcome to the month of LOVE! It’s time to get out and explore with the ones you love most. Boston Moms has compiled a few of our favorite family-friendly events happening around Greater Boston this February!

February 1-7

Lights In The Necklace

February 1-March 20 :: Boston

Lights in the Necklace celebrates the power of our urban parks to bring us together, inspire us, and light the way in challenging times! Bridges and landmarks in several iconic Emerald Necklace parks will be lit with a beautiful emerald-colored glow through the winter months from dusk until 9 p.m.

Groundhog Day: Seeing Shadows

February 2 :: Acton

Whether Punxsutawney Phil sees his shadow or not, there will be plenty of shadows to experiment with at the Discovery Museum in Acton! Make your shadow grow, shrink, and dance at this fun celebration! 

Chinese New Year Concert

February 3 :: Boston

This beautiful night will be filled with spectacular performances honoring the Chinese New Year!

Lincoln Winter Carnival

February 4-6 :: Lincoln 

Chase away those winter blues at this fun winter carnival! Guests are invited to enjoy ice sculpture demos, outdoor scavenger hunts, outdoor ice skating, and much more!

Visit the Green Meadow Forest at Thornton Burgess

February 5 :: Sandwich

Visit the storybook world of Peter Rabbit, Grandfather Frog, Reddy Fox, Mrs. Quack, Billy Mink, and the many other characters created by children’s author Thornton W. Burgess! The live animal display highlights bunnies, as well as environmentally accurate habitats for some small woodland creatures.

17th Annual Merrimack River Eagle Festival

February 8-12 :: Newburyport and Amesbury area

When winter returns to the lower Merrimack Valley, so do bald eagles, snowy owls, and other exciting winter wildlife! Celebrate their return with many family friendly festivities! 

2022 Lunar New Year Celebration

February 8-13 :: Boston

Celebrate the Lunar New Year at this family friendly celebration! See the iconic lion dance, watch brush painting demos, and do crafts! 

Star Gazing at Gore Place

February 10 :: Waltham

An expert astronomy educator will lead you as you learn how to identify stars, planets, and constellations, and together you will uncover the historical importance of astronomy in the early 19th century. For ages 6+.

Newton Community Pride WinterFest

February 12 :: Newton

The City of Newton celebrates everything winter in this fun-filled outdoor activity. Enjoy live music, ice sculptures, live demos, costumed characters, hot chocolate, and more!

Judy Saves the Day! Virtual Puppet Show

February 13 :: Virtual

After being pushed around for over 200 years, the famous hand puppet heroine Judy has had enough! Cheer her on via Zoom as she goes on a quest for respect, justice, and a well-deserved nap.

Frida: The Immersive Dream

Through May 8 :: Boston

From the groundbreaking team behind the Immersive Van Gogh exhibit comes Frida: The Immersive Dream. Explore the world through the eyes of the legendary Frida Kahlo — a brilliant painter who created some of history’s most iconic artwork while boldly telling the story of her life through her brushstrokes. 

New England Boston Boat Show 2022

February 16-20 :: Boston

Check out the boats and nautical accessories at this annual event! Kids can splash around a mini lake in a paddleboat or build their own toy boat!

Blue Man Group February Vacation Week Fun

February 18-27 :: Boston

Spend February school vacation week with Blue Man Group! There is nothing quite like their unique brand of zany creativity!

Enchanted Forest at the Fruitlands Museum

February 19-27 :: Harvard

Make a trek to the Enchanted Forest and enjoy self-guided explorations over school vacation week. Can you find the fairy, gnome, and elf houses installed on the yellow trail?

Frog Pond Ice Skating 

Through March 8 :: Boston

Hop on over to the Frog Pond on the Boston Common for some slippery winter fun! Skate rentals and hot cocoa are available at the Pond Cottage.

Lego Maritime Festival

February 19-27 :: Charlestown

Set sail for the USS Constitution Museum and build your own ship with LEGO and DUPLO bricks at the USS Constitution Museum.

Color Crush February Vacation at Tower Hill Botanic Garden

February 19-27 :: Boylston

Learn, craft, create, tinker, play, and experiment together as a family! Do yoga, learn about garden buds, create beaded suncatchers, and much more! 

Disney on Ice: Let’s Celebrate! 

February 23-27 :: Boston

Grab your Mickey ears and get ready for some fun! Join Mickey, Minnie, and all of their friends in this ice skating spectacular! 

Children’s Winter Festival on the Boston Common

February 24 :: Boston

This fun festival will feature music, giveaways, various winter attractions, treats, crafts, and much more! This event is FREE and open to all. Make sure to bundle up, it will be chilly out!

Winter Skate at Patriot Place

Through February 25

Winter skating at Patriot Place is the perfect antidote to cabin fever this winter! The rink features an observation deck for non-skaters and is large enough to accommodate skaters of all levels!

Deanna is a mom of five (yes, five) children, who lives in Brockton with her small circus of kids, her husband, their dog Penny, and a few cats. Her life is loud, energetic, mostly fun, often gross (did she mention four of those kids are boys?), and she wouldn't have it any other way. In between carting kids to school, baseball, gymnastics, guitar, dance, track and field and every other kid activity known to mankind, she works as a school bus driver for the city of Brockton, and is the Director of Religious Education at the Unity Church of North Easton, a Unitarian Universalist congregation. Deanna also holds degrees in Elementary Physical Education and Dance Education, which she plans to put back into use one day. At parties, Deanna can often be found hanging out with family pets. She follows her children around with a camera like the paparazzi, is pretty sure that 97% of her blood stream is made of coffee, and her laundry is never done. You can also find her blogging at
