Parenting- Boston Moms

In an ideal world, parenting would be effortless, with a guide for every situation. However, we all know that’s not the reality. Each child is unique, requiring special love, care, and nurturing. So, without a parenting manual, what can you do? That’s where Boston Moms comes in. Our team consists of more than 40 contributors from different backgrounds and family structures, bringing a diverse range of experiences from various walks of life and parenthood.

Parenthood is an amazing journey, filled with challenges and beautiful moments. The anticipation and mixed emotions during pregnancy mark the beginning of this transformative experience. The newborn phase brings sleepless nights and countless diaper changes, but oh, the incomparable joy of witnessing your baby’s first smile! As your little one blossoms into a curious toddler, the journey transforms into a whirlwind of managing tantrums, fostering independence, and cherishing their first words and wobbly steps. The school years unveil a whole new spectrum of challenges, as you navigate the delicate balance between academics, extracurricular activities, and the intricate world of social development. And as the teenage phase unfolds, their identity takes shape, boundaries are established, and the need for open communication becomes paramount. Every stage of motherhood, though it can be tough, strengthens the unbreakable bond between a mom and her child.

Our goal at Boston Moms is to be there for you during every stage of parenthood, offering resources and support. Whether you need guidance or just someone to be there, we want to walk alongside you in your parenthood journey.

Last November we made the jump from one child to three with the addition of our twin girls. We had implemented many of the following approaches, to some degree, with my first child, but now each of these methods enables us to function...
My son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder eight years ago when he was 2 years old. It came as no surprise to me. I finally felt validated that my intuitions were correct — something was, indeed, different. Parents of...
Motherhood comes with a host of choices about what is best for you, your family and your children. We at Boston Moms Blog are a diverse group of moms who want to embrace these choices instead of feel guilty...
When our first child was on the way, my husband and I started looking into saving for college for our baby. Yes, we started early. I was and still am daunted by the cost of college and how to save. As it turns out, figuring out the process isn't so bad. Coming up with the money is the more challenging part!
We all know the memes about the mental load of motherhood — there's this one and this one, and this one, too. When it comes to parenting, moms (stereotypically) bear the bulk of the mental load. And in my...
The days are long and exhausting with daycare drop-offs, working eight-hour days, coming home, getting dinner on the table, and prepping to do it all over again for the next one. But they also blend together in a way that makes you question what month it is, like you're Rip Van Winkle, sleepwalking through this chaotic, non-stop world. And so, while some days may drag on, overall months sometimes feel like only seconds have passed. And even though some days are long — and sometimes difficult — I try to soak it all in. Because before I know it, my infant will be a toddler. So I am going to enjoy the baby months for as long as I can. Because those cliches are exactly right.
If the dinner's not done, there's poo on the floor, or mom needs a shower, who do you call when you need 20 minutes sans children? If you're like me, Mr. Television is a lifesaver for those too-crazy days....
My 4-year-old loves to get his way (what 4-year-old doesn’t?), and he is the king of negotiating/manipulating a situation to achieve his desired result. He is at an age where he strives to be independent and has the drive to try things...
He is the best — and you want to show it! But where do you even begin to say thank you to the man who you all love so much — especially since you're a busy mom who doesn't...
This summer is looking a little bit different. This is the summer of COVID and social distancing. If your family is still laying low, you might be wondering how you'll make it through a camp-less, socially distant summer. Should...
My journey of discovering the power of positive self-talk started about a year ago. I heard a very charismatic woman speak about how she used positive self-talk to change her life and parenting. She challenged listeners to get out...
When a child hits a "money-saving milestone," it can mean a complete lifestyle change for a family. Certain milestones, like aging out of daycare into public school, transitioning from formula to solids, and successfully potty training can have a...
