10 Kid-Friendly Boston-Area Food Festivals to Check Out This Summer!

I’m always looking for things to do that involve food! And even better, events that are kid-friendly. Here are 10 Boston-area food festivals worth checking out this summer — all involve delicious eats!

St. Athanasius Greek Food Festival :: Arlington :: June 10-12

You don’t have to be Greek to love this festival for its music, dancing, and authentic Greek food! This festival is held every year under a tent, rain or shine. I usually end up taking home extra food because the moussaka and pastitio freeze well. I also love the fried-dough-type dessert called loukoumades! Kids will love the Greek fries topped with feta.

Jimmy Fund Scooper Bowl :: Patriot Place, Foxborough :: June 18

Who doesn’t love all-you-can-eat ice cream?! The Scooper Bowl also promises entertainment and games, all to benefit the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.

Hot Dog Safari :: Suffolk Downs :: June 25

Dogs, brews, games, and live performances make this a one-of-a-kind festival. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy the day!

Boston Jerkfest :: Allston :: July 1-2

Look for spicy (and non-spicy!) food, chef demos, live music, and plenty of kids activities, including face painting, storytelling, and arts and crafts.

Boston Pizza Festival :: City Hall Plaza :: July 9-10

At this festival, you’ll enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza, entertainment, games, and more!

Verrill Farm Blueberry Pancake Breakfast :: Concord :: July 18

Reservations are required in advance for this blueberry pancake breakfast, with timed seatings. (If strawberries are more your thing, try the farm’s Strawberry Festival on June 25!)

Boston Seafood Festival :: Seaport :: August 7

This amazing festival includes food trucks (and other options if you don’t like seafood), chef demonstrations, a beer garden, an oyster-shucking contest, live entertainment, and kids activities.

112th Annual Fisherman’s Feast :: North End :: August 18-21

One of the largest of the North End summer feasts, this event definitely has something for everyone. Highlights include live music, food demos and competitions, Italian souvenirs, and plenty of pizza and cannolis!

Paellafest Boston :: Suffolk Downs :: August 28

Paellafest promises a professional paella competition, plus other types of Spanish food, live entertainment, kids activities, games, and Flamenco dancing.

Cape Cod Food Truck Festival :: Falmouth :: August 6

This festival will have more than 18 different food trucks, enticing you with everything from lobster to pizza to poke to BBQ!

Wherever you end up this summer, it’s great to be outdoors to enjoy some beautiful weather and delicious food!
